Paint correction.

Swirl marks, marring, oxidation and shallow scratches — properly removed with measurement and the right tools. Restores depth and clarity to your paint.

What it does

Bring back the look the paint had on day one.

Paint correction is the controlled removal of a small amount of clear coat to level out defects sitting in it — swirls from improper washing, water spots, light scratches, oxidation.

It's measured work. Paint depth is recorded throughout, because clear coat is finite. We'll always tell you the honest answer: sometimes a full correction isn't needed and a lighter refinement gets 90% of the way there for half the price.

What's included

Every correction is measurement-based.

  • Paint depth measured before, during and after correction
  • Full decontamination wash before any compounding
  • Test panel agreed with you before main correction begins
  • Defect photographs on representative panels
  • IPA wipe-down to verify true correction
  • Final inspection under multiple lighting sources
Process

Five stages — no guesswork.

01

Assessment

Paint depth gauge readings, defect mapping under inspection lighting, and an agreed scope of work before starting.

02

Decontamination

Foam pre-wash, contact wash, iron and tar removal, mechanical decontamination.

03

Test panel

Products and pad combinations trialled on a single panel until we hit the target finish — shown to you before continuing.

04

Correction

Panel-by-panel correction with depth readings between stages. Photographs taken on representative panels.

05

Finish

IPA wipe-down, final inspection, and a written record of work performed and remaining clear coat.

Pricing

Three levels of correction.

All levels include full decontamination before correction and an IPA wipe-down after. Sedan-class pricing — larger vehicles add $200–$400.

Refinement

From $700

Single-stage finishing polish. Removes light marring, restores gloss and depth. Best for well-maintained paint.

Single-stage correction

From $1,000

Compound plus finishing polish. Removes most swirl marks and light scratches. The most common option.

Multi-stage correction

From $1,550

Heavy compound, intermediate and finishing stages. For neglected or heavily marred paint.

FAQ

Common questions.

Will every scratch come out?

Anything you can catch a fingernail in has reached the basecoat and can't be polished out safely. We'll tell you upfront what can and can't be improved.

Is correction safe?

Yes — done with measurement. We never compound a panel without depth readings. Clear coat is finite and each correction draws from it, so it has to be done carefully.

Should I get a coating afterwards?

Strongly recommended. Polished paint without protection marrs more easily than coated paint. Most clients pair the two and we'll quote you for both.

How long does it take?

Refinement is usually one day. Single-stage correction takes two days. Multi-stage runs three to four.

What about lease returns?

A refinement can significantly improve presentation for valuation. We'll happily quote — bring it in for a free assessment.
